BREAKFAST YUM YUMS!!!

Breakfast! I love breakfast! Unfortunately, this is one area that I find most lacking in raw food cookbooks. This is also an arena that a lot of my students ask me to suggest recipes for. So here are a couple of my favorites...

Breakfast Sushi!!! (This is courtesy of my friend Shura)

2 Nori Sheet
almond butter (the amount is up to your discretion)
2 bananas
honey or agave (i find honey stays in place better)

or

2 Nori Sheets
apple, sliced
cashew butter (your discretion)
honey or agave

or

2 Nori Sheets
butter
fruit
sweetener

Spread butter on nori roll. Place banana, apple, or other fruit over butter. Spread or drizzle honey or agave. Roll. To seal the nori sheet dip fingers in water and moisten edge of sheet. Press to seal. Sometimes the sweetener will moisten the nori enough for you.

These are excellent when you are on the go and in a hurry. Also, KIDS LOVE THESE!!!!

Banana, Pear, Ginger Cereal (courtesy of Brendan Brazier's Thrive)

1 banana
1 pear
1 date
¼ cup almonds, chopped
1 tbsp flaxseed
1 tbsp hemp protein powder
½ tbsp cacao nibs (optional)
½ tbsp fresh grated ginger

Slice bananas into bite size pieces. Core and slice pear. Pit and cut date into small pieces. Combine all ingredients in a bowl; stir. Top with Hemp Milk, Almond Milk, or Banana Milk

Hemp Milk:
1 cup hemp seeds
3.5 cups of water
1-2 tbsp agave or honey

Combine in a blender. Good 1-2 weeks.

Almond Milk
1 cup of almonds (easiest if almonds are soaked overnight)
3.5 cups of water
1-2 tbsp honey or agave

Combine in a blender. Optional: Drain through a nut bag

Banana Milk (My Favorite...the easiest and cheapest by far)
1 - 1.5 cups of water (depends on how think or thin you want it)
1 banana, ripe
1-2 tbsp agave or honey (optional. ripe bananas are already sweet)

Combine in a blender. Best when fresh. Bananas will oxidize and turn brown.
